Vanlife in Europe is very different from vanlife in the US: every country has its own rules, culture, and surprises.
Tsjerk & Robin, founders and editors of European Vanlife Atlas

Two van-lifers,
discovering as we go
European Vanlife Atlas is run by two Dutch full-time vanlifers sharing their experience of traveling Europe by campervan. Because vanlife in Europe comes with different rules and challenges in every country, they provide clear, practical guidance to make the journey easier.
Through vanlife guides, itineraries, and gear tips, they help both beginners and experienced travelers plan smooth European road trips. Their mission is to simplify campervan travel in Europe so you can explore with confidence and fewer surprises.
- The best places to park your campervan and wake up with a view
- What to expect in every country, from Portugal to Poland
- Road trip itineraries that take you from rugged coastlines to mountain peaks
- Honest tips on wild camping, rules, and vanlife etiquette
Our mission
We want to inspire and inform other vanlifers (and vanlife dreamers!) who want to hit the road in Europe. Whether youโre just renting a campervan for the first time or already are a seasoned vanlifer, think of us as your friendly neighbors parked next to you in some random, wonderful spot on this continent ๐
Our values
Everything we publish is shaped by these principles.
Honest information
We write from experience or from close sources, not from press releases. If a place has downsides, we'll tell you.
Responsible travel
Leave no trace. Respect locals, wildlife, and protected areas. We advocate for low-impact van life that upholds local traditions.
Hippie friendly
Everyone, from all walks of life, is welcome. No matter your background or who you are, everyone is treated equally.
Practical over pretty
Beautiful photography is nice, but we'd rather give you a working toilet dump station than a stunning sunset photo (but also the stunning foto).
Community-driven
The best tips come from fellow travellers. We build tools that make it easy to share and discover knowledge together. The site is a work in progress!
Free & open
The atlas is free to use, without paywalls. Van life shouldn't be a luxury available only to those who can afford a subscription.
